About Me

Passion, Experience, Hope

I’m Ashley Baird Urbanski, founder of Holding Hope Therapy LLC and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area. I am so excited you're here considering therapy. It's a big step and can often feel overwhelming, but I am here to guide you and/or your family through life’s complex and difficult matters. I truly care about my clients’ well-being, especially because I have recovered from my own mental health struggles.

My personal and professional experiences have led me to be extremely passionate about helping others and sharing hope. I have provided a number of specialized therapeutic services to those dealing with challenging life experiences. Get in touch with me today for more information.

When I'm not in the therapy office you will find me traveling around the world, making jewelry, and biking. These are my coping skills and I hope to help you find yours. Be sure to let me know if you have any questions, and in the meantime, be kind to yourself and take care.

Professional Experiences

I graduated with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. During my studies I was a volunteer on Crisis Connection's crisis line and the National Suicide Prevention Line, where I provided phone counseling to those in crisis situations. I also completed a practicum at Melrose Center treating individuals and families struggling with eating disorders. I went on to take a job at The Emily Program where I also helped those with eating disorders. I started working in The Emily Program's adolescent residential program and proceeded to work in adult day programs and adult outpatient services.

While I specialize in treating eating disorders in my private practice at Holding Hope Therapy, I also seek to support individuals and families around general mental health concerns. Because eating disorders almost always have an accompanying mental health issue, I am skilled in treating anxiety and depression as well. I also have experience helping those with trauma and grief. I tend to use narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, internal family systems, systemic therapy, and collaborative therapy techniques in my practice. However, I am sure to meet the client where they are at and cater techniques and interventions to their needs.

I am a member of the Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) and an executive board member of Project HEAL Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter.
